The promoter of this competition is Toys "R" Us Australia TOYS "R" US ANZ LIMITED [A.C.N. 063 886 199] ("Promoter"). Part of the Directed Group of companies.
This competition is conducted in two parts, each with a different competition type:
This promotion is conducted in accordance with the Australian Consumer Law (Schedule 2 of the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (Cth)) and applicable Australian federal, State, and Territory fair trading, trade promotion lottery, and consumer protection laws.
The Weekly Build Competitions are games of skill and do not require a permit or licence in any Australian State or Territory. The Sweepstakes Draw is a game of chance conducted as a trade promotion lottery. Based on the total Sweepstakes prize value of $200, no permit or licence is required in any Australian State or Territory, as this value falls below the applicable threshold in every jurisdiction, including the Australian Capital Territory, which has the lowest threshold nationally.
Note to Promoter: please reconfirm this position with your compliance/legal team if the Sweepstakes prize value changes, or if the total combined prize pool is assessed differently, before this competition launches.
The competition (“Bricktober”) opens at 12:00 AM AEDT on Friday, 2 October 2026 and closes at 11:59 PM AEDT on Thursday, 29 October 2026 (“Competition Period”), and is structured into four weekly themed rounds, followed by a Sweepstakes Draw. Entries received outside the Competition Period, or outside the entry window for the relevant weekly round, are ineligible.
Bricktober runs across four weekly rounds, each with its own build theme, announced on social media:
| Week | Theme | Entry Period |
|---|---|---|
| Week 1 | Theme 1 | Fri 2 Oct to Wed 7 Oct 2026, 11:59 PM AEDT |
| Week 2 | Theme 2 | Fri 9 Oct to Wed 14 Oct 2026, 11:59 PM AEDT |
| Week 3 | Theme 3 | Fri 16 Oct to Wed 21 Oct 2026, 11:59 PM AEDT |
| Week 4 | Theme 4 | Fri 23 Oct to Wed 28 Oct 2026, 11:59 PM AEDT |
Each week follows the same weekly schedule:
Entries submitted outside of an active entry period, including in the gap between one week’s entries closing and the next week’s theme being announced, are not eligible and will not be counted, judged, or entered into the Sweepstakes Draw.
Entry is open to Australian residents aged 18 years and over only. Entrants must reside in Australia for the duration of the Competition Period.
While entry is open to Australian residents aged 18 years and over, the Promoter encourages parents and legal guardians to enter on behalf of their children. Where an entry is submitted on behalf of a child, the parent or legal guardian is the entrant for all purposes under these Terms & Conditions, including eligibility, prize claim, and acceptance of these terms. The LEGO creation may be the work of the child, and this will be acknowledged where possible, but all legal responsibility, correspondence, and prize delivery will be directed to the entering parent or legal guardian.
Directors, officers, employees, contractors, agents, and immediate family members of the Promoter, its related bodies corporate, and their agencies are not eligible to enter. “Immediate family members” means spouse, de facto partner, parent, child, or sibling.
An entrant may submit more than one entry within the same weekly theme. However, regardless of how many entries an entrant submits in a given week, they will only receive a maximum of one (1) Sweepstakes ticket for that week, as set out in clause 8.4, and will only be eligible to win the weekly prize once for that week.
Entries are only eligible for the weekly theme during which entry period they are submitted, and only enter the entrant into the Sweepstakes Draw as described in clause 8. Entries do not carry over between weeks.
Each entrant may win a Weekly Build Competition prize on one (1) occasion only across the entire Competition Period. An entrant who has already won a weekly prize in an earlier week may continue to enter in later weeks and will still be judged and have their entry considered, but is not eligible to win a further weekly prize in a later week. In that situation, the Promoter will select the next eligible entry as that week’s winner in accordance with clause 9. This restriction applies only to winning a further weekly prize; it does not affect that entrant’s continued eligibility to enter, nor their eligibility for the Sweepstakes Draw, which operates independently and automatically as described in clause 8. Each further eligible entry the entrant submits still earns them a Sweepstakes ticket for that week, subject to clause 8.4.
The Promoter reserves the right to verify the eligibility of any entrant prior to awarding a prize and may request proof of identity, age, and Australian residency. Failure to provide satisfactory proof may result in disqualification.
Each week, a new theme is revealed via @toysrusaustralia on social media. Fans build an original LEGO creation to match that week’s theme.
To enter for a chance to win the relevant weekly prize and to receive an entry into the Sweepstakes Draw, during the entry period for that week the entrant must post to their Instagram feed (a single post or carousel post):
and, in that post:
Entries must be submitted as a permanent feed post (not a Story), as Stories expire after 24 hours and cannot be relied upon for judging or Sweepstakes verification.
Entrants’ Instagram accounts must be set to public for the entire duration of the Competition Period, and must remain public up to and including 7 November 2026, being the day after the Sweepstakes Draw is conducted, to allow the Promoter to verify entries. In addition, an entrant’s entry post must remain live and unedited on their Instagram feed for the entire duration of the Competition Period, and up to and including 7 November 2026. An entry that is deleted, hidden, or made private before this date may be deemed ineligible.
Entries must be:
Entry is free. No purchase is required to enter. No entry fee may be charged. Any cost of internet access or data charges incurred by the entrant in submitting an entry is the entrant’s responsibility.
By posting an entry, the entrant confirms they have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms & Conditions.
By tagging the Promoter’s account and entering this competition, the entrant agrees that the Promoter may use their submitted photos on the Promoter’s website, social media channels, and in future promotions and marketing, as set out in clause 11.
Where an entry is submitted on behalf of a child, the Instagram account used must be owned and operated by the entering parent or legal guardian.
The Sweepstakes Draw is a separate, random draw prize competition, run alongside the four Weekly Build Competitions. It is a game of chance and no skill or judgement is applied in selecting the Sweepstakes winner.
Every entrant who submits an eligible entry into a weekly theme (see clause 7) is automatically entered into the Sweepstakes Draw. No separate entry or action is required.
An entry only earns a Sweepstakes ticket if it meets all applicable entry requirements set out in clause 7, including that it is an original LEGO creation built from real LEGO bricks and elements, is on-theme, and otherwise complies with these Terms & Conditions. The Promoter may refuse or void a Sweepstakes ticket for any entry that does not meet these requirements, is not genuinely LEGO-related, or is otherwise disqualified under clause 13, whether or not that entry was also considered for the relevant weekly prize.
Ticket allocation: Each entrant may earn a maximum of one (1) Sweepstakes ticket per weekly theme, regardless of how many entries they submit that week. For example, if an entrant submits two designs in Week 1, they receive only one ticket for Week 1.
An entrant may earn up to one additional Sweepstakes ticket for each further weekly theme they enter, for a maximum of four (4) Sweepstakes tickets across the four weeks of Bricktober (one per week, for Weeks 1 to 4).
The Sweepstakes Draw will be conducted electronically using a random number generator (or equivalent random selection method) from all eligible Sweepstakes tickets, at the Promoter’s premises, and will take place after the close of the Week 4 entry period.
The Sweepstakes winner will be announced on Saturday, 31 October 2026 at 12:00 PM AEDT via @toysrusaustralia on Instagram.
The Sweepstakes Draw is entirely independent of the Weekly Build Competition judging. An entrant may win a weekly prize, the Sweepstakes prize, both, or neither.
Weekly winners will be selected by a panel of judges appointed by the Promoter (“Judging Panel”). The Judging Panel will assess all eligible entries received within that week’s entry period against the following criteria:
| Criteria | Weighting |
|---|---|
| Relevance to that week’s theme | 60% |
| Creativity and originality of the LEGO build | 40% |
Theme relevance is weighted more heavily than general creativity: an entry that is highly creative but does not reasonably reflect that week’s theme is unlikely to place ahead of a well-executed, clearly on-theme entry.
The Judging Panel’s decision is final. No correspondence regarding judging decisions will be entered into.
In the event of a tie, the entry with the highest score for theme relevance will be selected as the winner.
The Promoter reserves the right to select a runner-up as the weekly winner if the selected winner is found to be ineligible, cannot be contacted, or has already won a Weekly Build Competition prize in an earlier week (see clause 6.6).
There are four (4) weekly winners (one per weekly theme), each receiving a $100 Toys "R" Us gift card (total retail value: $400).
Weekly winners will be announced on the following dates at 3:00 PM AEDT via @toysrusaustralia on Instagram:
There is one (1) Sweepstakes prize of a $200 Toys "R" Us gift card (total retail value: $200). Value can be used to purchase LEGO, or any products on website.
The Sweepstakes winner will be announced on Saturday, 31 October 2026 at 12:00 PM AEDT via @toysrusaustralia on Instagram.
The total prize pool for this competition is $600 (AUD) (inclusive of all weekly and Sweepstakes prizes).
Entrants retain ownership of their submitted LEGO designs and photos.
By entering (including by tagging the Promoter’s account as described in clause 7), each entrant grants the Promoter a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide, perpetual licence to use, reproduce, display, publish, and share the entry, including any photos or images submitted and the entrant’s username or name, for marketing, social media, advertising, and promotional purposes across all media. This includes, without limitation, use on the Promoter’s website, in-store, on @toysrusaustralia and other social media channels, and in future promotions and marketing campaigns, without further compensation.
Entrants warrant that:
The Promoter is not liable for any claim arising from an entrant’s breach of the warranties in clause 11.3. Entrants indemnify the Promoter against any such third-party claims.
Entries must be entirely the result of the entrant’s own physical, hands-on creative effort using real LEGO bricks and elements. The use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools, software, or platforms, in whole or in part, to create, generate, design, alter, enhance, or produce any element of a submitted entry is strictly prohibited.
AI tools include, but are not limited to: image generation tools (e.g. Midjourney, DALL·E, Adobe Firefly, Stable Diffusion), AI-assisted editing software, AI filters, AI-generated building instructions or design tools, and any other tool that uses machine learning or generative AI to produce or modify visual content.
Entries that the Promoter reasonably suspects have been created or assisted by AI tools will be disqualified without notice.
By submitting an entry, the entrant warrants that their entry was designed and built entirely by themselves using physical LEGO bricks and that no AI tools were used at any stage of the creation or submission process.
The Promoter’s decision regarding whether an entry contains AI-generated elements is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
The Promoter may disqualify any entry or entrant if the entry or entrant:
A disqualified entry is also excluded from the Sweepstakes Draw, and any Sweepstakes ticket(s) associated with that entry will be void. This includes entries that are not genuinely LEGO-related or do not otherwise meet the entry requirements in clause 7, as set out in clause 8.3.
Entries submitted using automated systems, bots, or scripts are invalid.
The Promoter’s decisions regarding eligibility and disqualification are final.
If the promotion is disrupted, corrupted, or otherwise affected by causes beyond the Promoter’s reasonable control, including but not limited to technical failures, bugs, viruses, fraud, tampering, social media outages, or other unauthorised interference, the Promoter may, subject to applicable State and Territory regulatory requirements and any necessary regulatory approvals:
